Day 237: it’s our teacher’s birthday

“Love is the ultimate state of human being where compassion prevails and kindness rules.” – Yogi Bhajan

Today we celebrate our teacher, Yogi Bhajan’s, birthday!

Yogi Bhajan was a master of Kundalini yoga and brought this yoga practice to the US.

Although I never met him personally, he passed away in 2004, 7 years before I took my first class, I am deeply grateful for his teachings.  I know I have grown so much in the last year.  Kundalini yoga helped awaken my inner consciousness and let me see my inner potential and beauty.  I have found my own personal truth of who I am and what I am meant to do in this lifetime.

So how did we celebrate?

Sadhana, starting at 2:40am!

It was a special Sadhana and I went to Yoga West to practice with my fellow Kundalini yogis.  The main event was chanting Long Ek Ong Kaur for 2 1/2 hours.  It is a very powerful mantra and extremely energizing. The mantra opens up all the chakras in the body.

The last time I did this was during my teacher training. I stayed up and chanted the whole mantra.  This time, I had a little bit more difficulty and ended up resting during 1/2 of it.  But I loved being in the energy of this mantra!

This was such a beautiful way to start the day and the morning!
