Day 240: I’m getting in the spirit

If you know anything about me, you’ll know that I’m a big USC fan.  I went to college there, was President of Trojan Pride, the official spirit committee of USC, during my sophomore year and basically bleed Cardinal and Gold.

But for 6 of the last 7 years I was living in the Midwest.  I was starved from watching Trojan Football because none of the channels played it.  I also lived in Ohio so it was a big no no to like any team other than the Buckeyes.

So being back, especially in LA, I decided to start off and get back into the “Spirit” so to speak.

I saw an announcement of a “Band off” between USC and UCLA’s marching bands at the Grove.  It was part of a celebration for the Pac 12 network.

I decided to check it out and see what this was all about.

The event was kind of small, but I loved watching the Spirit of Troy (aka the Trojan Marching Band) perform.  Conquest gave me chills and of course I loved Tusk!  But oddly I felt a little rusty or out of practice.  I knew all the words to all the songs, but after a long time away, it felt a bit odd to be back again and cheering like I used to.

I’m sure soon enough I’ll get back into the swing of things!

Here are some pictures of the lovely Traveller and the Spirit of Troy.  After all, they are “the greatest marching band in the history of the universe”.
