When to let go

I was looking through my closet the other day trying to figure out to wear. As I tried to move through the clothes, I kept on thinking, I have so many clothes, but nothing I want to wear.

And to make matters worse I hadn’t worn some of these clothes in months. Part of my closet is full of clothes I wore back when I worked at a corporate job. I kept the clothes in case I ever needed it. But right now I don’t need any of this.

Thinking about this some more, I chuckled. Because I realized I was a hoarder. Not as bad as those people who can’t move through their house. But I am one. I keep stuff that I don’t need.

There is a saying, “How you do one thing is how you do everything.”

This is so true. As I looked through the rest of my life I could see when I hoard emotions, thoughts, etc that no longer serve me.

Because in life, things aren’t meant to be permanent. As humans we are meant to be permanent either. There is a cycle.

Just like the life cycle, our emotions and thoughts need to go in cycles. We need to phase out the things we don’t need.

It is such a burden to carry excess baggage so to speak. It keeps us down.

Also, excess “stuff” in our life prevents us from the next phase of our journey. It’s almost like we need to think about what we want to “pack” for the next phase of our lives. We can’t take everything.

So, it is time to let go. Letting go of the physical things. Letting go of the mental baggage holding me back. Letting go of relationships that are no longer healthy.

Will you join me this week?

This week…Let Go!

Take a look at your life.

Is there something, someone you are holding on to?

In essence, ask yourself, “What am I hoarding?”

Write it down.

Ask yourself, “Do I need ………. in my life? Or would I be better without it?”

If you say, yes you need it, ask yourself, “Why do I need ………… in my life?”

Really be critical here.

Because we can all say we “need” something in our life. But do we really “need it” or do we just “want it”?

Find that out for yourself.

Now, take the steps to let go of whatever it is you identified.

Also, let us support you. Why? Because we believe in community and helping each other out. So let us know what you’re letting go of in the comments below and how we can support you!

Until next time….

with peace, love, and joy!
