Can being jealous be good for you?

2013 - Celebrate your jealousy

Can being jealous be a good thing?

Hey, we all get jealous of other people from time to time.

Sometimes you want what someone else has.

And I’m not too proud to admit that I’ve definitely been jealous many times!

Often times, jealousy is looked at in a negative light.  People believe that when you are jealous, you are not secure in your own self worth.  There are so many articles out there that tell people how to overcome their jealousy.

To a degree, I agree with those people.

But I’m going to stir the pot a little and say we should not vilify being jealous and instead we should CELEBRATE BEING JEALOUS!

Yes, it sounds unconventional and you may not agree with me, but hear me out!

Being jealous is not the real issue.  The real issue is what you do with that bit of jealousy.

In this weeks episode of Simple Tips to bring JOY to your Life & Business, I breakdown how your jealous tendencies can actually help you out.

The real lesson here is that you have the power to choose the meaning behind your thoughts and how your thoughts effect you.  You can serve your thoughts or you can have your thoughts serve you. (and you can tweet this).

By shifting something negative into something positive, you are consciously making a choice.  And in that choice, there is power.  I never really grasped this concept until I started practicing and studying Kundalini Yoga.

There are two sides to the coin.  If we didn’t feel jealous, we wouldn’t be aware of what we lack and want in our lives.  Jealousy is pointing to a change you have an opportunity to make.

So I am celebrating all of my jealous tendencies.

What about you? Do you think being jealous can be good for you?  Let me know your thoughts about this unconventional way of looking at jealousy by commenting below.  And if you do agree with me, let me know how you are celebrating your jealousy too!
