How to heal yourself from rejection

2013 - How to heal yourself

Pain comes with the territory, unfortunately.

As much as we’d like to shield ourselves from pain, it happens.  But it doesn’t have to keep you down!  Last week, I wrote about a broken heart and how to keep on dancing when life throws a few curveballs.  Fresh off of a broken relationship, I needed to keep my head up high and not let the set back keep me from my own joy.

Well, over the last week, I’ve also done some major healing work.

In this weeks episode of Simple Tips to bring JOY to your Life & Business, I share why it’s important to heal.

We all will face rejection or heartache at some point in our lives and business.  It’s natural to resist the pain.  That’s what we are good at…we seek pleasure and avoid pain!  Everyone does it.

What happens is when we resist pain, we start to suppress the pain down and pretend it’s not there.

That’s not healthy.

Suppressing pain is like putting a lid over a volcano that is boiling inside.  The hurt is still underneath and inside of you.  Until you are able to embrace it and let it out, the pain will always be with you.  You’ll carry that baggage with you onto the next chapter of your life.

In yoga, we say it’s our karma.  We carry these karmic actions into our current lives and potentially into our future lives if we do not resolve them.  Now whether you believe in past or future lives is irrelevant. The point is our baggage stays with us.

So how do you heal?

You have to go through the pain.

Yes, it sucks.

But you do.

You can’t get to the other side unless you go through it.

Good news though…when you walk through that pain, you can bring awareness of how the pain makes you feel and make a conscious effort to move through it vs. being stuck in your pain.

And you can also enlist the help of others to consciously help you get past it.  Over the last week, I sought friends to help me through my pain.  I called them and they listened to me unconditionally.  I let all my feelings out.  I also asked my healer friends to do healing sessions on me to help me mend faster.  Basically, I dealt with it head on.

It has been a roller coaster ride with many ups and downs.  But facing my pain was the best thing that happened to me.  I am stronger and know that I can handle any challenges.
